Summary:
As a Production Manager, you are responsible for managing staff and operations of the plant, directing production and related inventory, maintenance, and safety functions, and assuring that the plant operates on a cost effective and customer satisfaction basisESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned as needed.
o Maintains a culture of safety.
o Coordinates production schedulingPlans and directs the daily operating and maintenance functions of the block facility in accordance with established standards for product quality and operating efficiencieso Maintains manufactured product inventories at needed levels.
o Maintains effective working relationships with employeesHires, trains, develops, and supervises all plant employees to achieve desired resultsHandles performance problems promptly and fairly.
o Evaluates, makes recommendations, and assists with the development of new products.
o Monitors the operating efficiencies of plant facilities and equipment and participates in new or replacement facilities/equipment planning and purchasingPlans and makes regular replacement purchases such as molds, maintenance supplies and tools, and similar itemsManages parts inventory.
o Performs regular quality inspections and controls of manufactured productsQUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDEducation, experience, and skills:
o High School education or GEDo Must be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of production standards and procedures.
o Proven leadership and development skills in directing a team required.
o Strong verbal and written communication skillso Must be able to work under pressure with tight schedules and under stressful situationso Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions even in the absence of complete information.
o Must be well organizedo Must have good math skills with the ability to read and understand production equipment manuals and specifications, production-costing issues, and product quality specificationsPhysical, mental, and environmental requirements:
This is a high energy and mentally demanding positionDaily problem solving is needed using engineering concepts and specifications and interpersonal skillsGood vision and hearing are required to communicate with a variety of employees, suppliers, and other management staffMust be able to distinguish colors, size and other elements concerning the Company's products and materialsSome occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds may be required along with regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping of objectsAlthough most work is performed inside of an office and production plant, some outside work activities are also required which are subject to seasonal Midwest weather conditions (summer heat and winter cold) dirt, dust, oils and equipment noiseSome travel may occur requiring a valid operator's license and good driving recordPosition also requires high levels of personal integrity and initiative.
